Waggonway Tearoom Catering Assistant


The Stephenson Railway Museum is a much loved destination for train lovers and those wanting a great day out with the family.

The Waggonway Tea Rooms is a new volunteer run establishment at Stephenson Railway Museum.  The Tea Room will offer visitors a selection of drinks and snacks to buy and enhance their visit to the Museum.

The tearooms are set to be even busier during the run-up (and during)  to the Christmas season and our special events such as our much loved and repeat attended Santa Specials events.


What's involved?

Your duties will include

  • food and drink preparation,
  • washing up and cleaning,
  • serving customers,
  • cash handling
  • using the till,
  • making tea's and coffees,
  • assisting with food prep,
  • clearing tables,

We would need you to have good skiils including

  • Communication
  • Creativity
  • Confidence
  • Reliability
  • customer service skills
  • Attention to detail

The Waggonway tearooms at the Stephenson Railway Museum is still a fairly new venture. It's been a remarkable success and would like you to be part of the team to make it more so.

You will gain valuable experience with working in the Waggonway Tearoom as well as working alongside other Volunteers and Museum staff. The Stephenson Railway Museum is a much loved venue with regular visitors and with people who want to experience something different.

Subsequently, this is an incredibly friendly and happy place to be for visitors staff and volunteers alike. Come and join something and be grateful that you did
