Volunteers Aged 16 - 24
Make your good deeds count by totting up your volunteering hours for the vInspired Awards scheme and impress colleges, universities and potential employers with your achievements.
This is a great way to official recognise your volunteering efforts and it couldn't be easier. Each time you accept and complete a volunteering challenge, those hours are automatically logged in our system. There are four vInspired Award categories: v10 / v30 / v50 / v100 (these numbers = the number of volunteering hours you've logged).
How to apply for an award:
1. First, you'll need to sign up as a vInspired volunteer.
2. Next, decide which category you'd like to apply for, based on the number of hours you've accumulated (if you're not sure how many you've logged, contact us and we'll check for you) and select 'Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums' as your validating organisation.
3a. When you apply for your v10 Award, you will be asked a couple of questions about your volunteering activity. That’s it! You’ll receive an email with your certificate.
(Please note – the v10 comes as a PDF only)
3b. When you apply for your v30, v50 or v100 Award, you will be asked a series of questions about your volunteering activity – specifically about the skills and experience you have gained.
4. We will be notified when you've submitted your application so we can review your responses and check with any of your volunteer supervisors for roles you have included in your application.
5. Once we've validated your Awards application, you'll receive a confirmation email and you can either collect your certificate in person from the Volunteering Office at Discovery Museum or we can post it to you.
